A Bit About Us
Strictly Coffee was founded in Dunedin in 1997 and has been roasting, blending, and serving great tasting coffee deep in the South ever since. Dunedin is known for its strong coffee culture and we love being part of it! For many years, the serious coffee lovers amongst us could be found sipping a brew at the original café in Bath St. These days our front of house coffee bar and roasting headquarters is in Frederick St just a stone’s throw from the University and Stadium.
Over time we have evolved and grown and now feel privileged to be roasting coffee for many cafés and restaurants around Otago, Southland, West Coast and Canterbury. We love working with amazing hospitality businesses and support them to provide their customers with amazing tasting coffee.
Still a Family owned Dunedin business, Strictly Coffee has grown a lot over the years. As our journey has evolved, our passion for getting great coffee out to our customers has never waived. Coffee is more than a drink, it is a ritual, a tool to help you stop and enjoy a moment, alone or with a friend. Southerners are known for our hospitality, relaxed nature and focus on enjoying the small things and that is what our coffee is about. As you enter our HQ in Frederick St the warmth and smell of freshly roasted coffee welcomes you in, closely followed by the smiles from our HQ team.
HQ is where all the magic happens. Our roaster is fired up every day as we expertly roast and blend beans for our Family of customers. Come on in if you would like to enjoy a great tasting coffee, grab some beans for home, or just take some time out on our comfy couch!
Our team are all passionate about what they do and the art of coffee. We love nothing more than to talk to our customers about what beans to buy or help match you up with the perfect set up so you can make the most out of your coffee at home.
Community and Sustainability
Sustainability isn’t a marketing catchphrase to us; it is how we choose to live our lives and carry out our Business. We work with our suppliers to ensure we are sourcing ethically farmed fair trade beans.
Minimising waste and packaging is very important to us and our customers so we reuse wherever we can. Coffee arrives to many of our cafes in food grade buckets, our locals pop in with their well-loved packets or from home containers for their coffee supply and we love serving takeaways in reusable cups!
Where we can’t reuse, we seek to use biodegradable and home compostable packaging and cups. Sustainable practices are forever changing and evolving. We really enjoy looking at ways to innovate our business and challenge the way we do things.
We have a worm farm at home and the worms love coffee! We love to give grounds and husks left over from the roasting process to customers as well, so just ask!
